Southern Tatters Day, Hurstpierpoint, West Sussex, 7th May 2011

Once again we had a very well supported meeting, with visitors from all areas. We started the day with a talk from Ruth Baker on “Tatting and Tatters”, which kept everyone’s attention with history and samples of her work.

There were two sessions of workshops - Beaded Jewellery with Maureen and Pearl Tatting
with Sylvia. We also had a table for beginners with Anita and Lynda which was very successful.

Competition

This years competition was entitled “Diamonds are forever”. The winner was Mary Wallace, in joint 2nd place were Anita Gilson and Ruth Baker.

Group Displays

Members of some of the groups had worked together to produce large themed displays: the Cuckfield group adapted basic patterns entitled “I did it my way”, Hurstpierpoint group used patterns from Lyn Morton’s book “Tatting Patterns”, and Jewellery was displayed by the Brighton group.

Other items were also brought in for display...

We ended our day with afternoon tea. A special thank to all our helpers, including Graham Robinson for the photographs.

Southern Tatters' Tatting Day for 2012 will be on 21st April.
