Picot Flowers

Each flower consists of a ring with lots of picots.

Usually people do (1ds, picot) or (2ds, picot) all round. Experiment with size and number of picots to get the effect you want.

Picot flowers are great for practising flipping the knot to make rings that close, and for making even-sized picots. Also a good way to use up scraps of thread.

Here a few picot flowers were stuck on to a small voile bag – the sort that shops use for gift-wrapping jewellery.

They are useful for decorating stationery. You can add to the effect by drawing some basic stems and leaves or a vine with a felt tip pen.
